Our Team
Nestled beneath Mt Maungatautari in the heart of rural Waikato. We have a current roll of 41 from year 0-8 operating 3 classrooms. Programmes have a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. We also provide programmes with a local flavour focussing on the environment, history, and Outdoor Education.
Hora Hora School's annual agricultural day is a cherished event that exemplifies the deep connection between the school and its community. This special day, held each year in the heart of the picturesque countryside, brings together students, teachers, parents, and local residents in a celebration of rural life and the importance of agriculture.
The Hora Hora School community wholeheartedly embraces this event, with families and teachers working tirelessly to prepare their children's animals and projects for display. This event not only fosters a sense of togetherness but also imparts vital life lessons about sustainability, responsibility, and the significance of agriculture in their lives.
The Hora Hora School agricultural day serves as a living testament to the enduring bond between the school and its community, where traditions are upheld, knowledge is shared, and a love for the land is passed down through the generations.

Happy school holidays - no morning lunch boxes for two weeks, hooray! Good luck to those participating in the Hora-Hora Hare Hunt this weekend.
I just wanted to send a final email, to say a huge thank you to everyone of their kindness and support over the term. We do not always have the flashiest things like the big schools, but we have something far more special than that. A school that feels like a family. A place where everyone knows everyone, and a community that backs our little school like nothing else. I am so grateful for the last 11 weeks, it's been a joy and your children are all truly delightful in all their different ways. I was a bit overwhelmed yesterday to articulate how grateful I am for this opportunity, how much I have learned, and how happy I am with the trajectory of our lovely little school.
And now, it is time for me to catch up on all my other to-do's. An early alarm for milking this morning reminded me that I am a farmer once more.
Mrs Synge is eager to get back to school, she is in this week to meet with the teachers to plan for Term 2, and we will do a final handover on Wednesday. From this point on, if you need to contact me, please email ksteeghs@horahoracambridge.school.nz
Mrs Synge will send the Term Dates when they are finalised, but here are some upcoming dates for the start of Term 2:
Thank you so much, I will miss my school days!

Kia Ora Families,
Just a quick reminder before tomorrows triathlon ????
Please remind your children to bring:
If you are coming to watch, please could you give your child's bike a quick check pre-race to make sure the chain is on, and wheels are pumped - that would be very helpful. We have some spare school bikes for those that need them.
Thank you.

Week 11 is already upon us already - crazy! And as usual, we have another busy week in store.
Triathlon
Our school Triathlon will be held on Tuesday, April 9th. This will start at 2pm (sharp...hopefully!). We plan to finish with a short prizegiving session at the end provided everything remains on schedule.
Please see the triathlon information attached. Please join us if you can, we need some supporters!
Health Nurse
On Wednesday April 10th, the health nurse will be in to vaccinate the Year 7 and 8 students (those with permission).
Assembly
Our final assembly for the term will commence at 2pm on Friday, April 12th. We will hold this in the hall. All welcome.
Bake Sale
Eva and Olivia would like to run a bake sale on Thursday. Please bring some coins along to school.
School Upgrades
The school is receiving upgrades to its lighting and acoustics through the week, this will cause some minor disruptions as we need to move around at times to accommodate the work.
End of Term
This Friday is the last day of Term 1. Sample books will be sent home on this day. Mrs Williams has come down unwell, and it looks like she may not be back next week (she has Covid running through her family). We have a team effort lined up to keep Karaka running smoothly for Week 11 should this eventuate.
Mrs Synge will soon be back and prepping for Term 2. For now, there is still too much to do to even contemplate this being my last school week! It has been a joy to spend the term back at Hora Hora School. I have really appreciated the support, encouragement, and community spirit during my time here - thank you.
